The Secret

Postby Muddler » Mon Apr 23, 2007 7:18 pm

I was given a DVD by my ex-wife's twin sister (it's actually not that complicated) called The Secret. If you forgive some of the (rather well done) Hollywoodisation, it has some very powerful messages, all based on the law of attraction. These are really empowering. There is also a book by the same name. If you feel unfairly done by, or if you are a BP SO sick of the bleating, or whatever, this may be the answer.

I heard so much about The Secret that my Mom and I both bought copies and started reading them simultaneously. The law of attraction I could agree with, but when we both got about 2/3 of the way into the book, we both had the same feeling.

The part about visualization started feeling very unreal, where someone cuts out a picture of a home or car or something, and then it appears.

Maybe I missed something, but it felt like "magical thinking", where someone wishes for something and it appears magically, without their having done anything. That doesn't feel like reality to me.

THE answer? KEWL!!

Real miracles are the result of optimism, a creative approach and hard work. It's no secret.

Families these days are complicated, with step this and that, but I followed. I didn't watch the dvd, just read most of the book.

Feedback time. I tried it. Still landed in hospital. Notwithstanding that, positive thinking is not a bad idea. Taking responsibilty is also useful. My suggestion? Borrow the book.

When the book first came out, I was a huge sceptic. But after a few months I finally read it. And I have to tell you, I have found most of what I read was true. Were always, "God I hate being broke, fat, unhappy, alone". When I started saying thank you and looking on the bright side, things began to turn around for me. Yes the meds help, but I was no longer focusing on what I didnt want, and put that energy towards the things I did want. There have been little signs, but none the less, signs that it works. So I am glad that I bought it and continue to read it.
"May I have the strength to make it one more day..without strangling anybody! But if I can't.. please make sure I have enough bail money!"
